The art of Silver

The art of silver smithy has been an expression of American Indian tribes in the Southwest. The art began in the 1800s. What is the art of blacksmithing silver? The art of blacksmithing is taking pieces of silver and silver metal work pieces in a buckle, buttons, earrings, and various other products. A Native Americans became familiar with the money to start making some bolder variations of art will be placed where semiprecious stones like turquoise. The art became a source of income for artisans of America Navajo Indians.

The Early Years

Silver could be purchased in bars and cast ingot molds. The ingots of silver could be used to create the silver leaf or wire with the use of metal rolling mill wire or dies. Additional tools are available pliers, saws, jigsaws, and sharp-tipped tweezers.

As the art form grew, it became the new tools available, such as acetylene torches. Best hand tools are made available such as hammers, anvils, clamps, and saws. The most important thing was also available was that silver was sold in sheets and cords of various sizes.

Today

The art of silver smithy is now on display around the world in the forms of jewelry and other goods. The most famous art form would be the squash blossom necklace, Navajo or Navajo Concho band. Today many people use Native American Indian jewelry of the actors on television, school teacher at the local school.
