They are not the only left-handed politicians. Some others are Winston Churchill, Harry Truman, Fidel Castro, Colin Powell, and even Prince William of England.
Why are so many left-handed policies? It is believed that about 10-15% of the world’s population has a dominant left hand, but it seems that the percentage of political leaders is much more left-handed. In 2008, both presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain are left handed. The same happened in 1992: All 3 candidates – George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Ross Perot are southpaws.
One possible explanation can be found when looking at the differences between left and right hand people’s brains. In his Encyclopedia of Genetics, Eric CR Reeve and claim Isobel Black (p. 574) that some lefties are actually not genetically left-handed people, but actually what they call "learned left handers." At some time in their proverbial development they have learned to use his left hand as dominant hand. These people develop verbal (and other) functions of both hemispheres of your brain. This can lead to a great rhetorical talent. As we know, good speaking ability is one of the most important skills required by a politician today.
